NOTE:
1) that the palpable bony points are indicated by open circles at the end of certain leader lines;
2) the seven cervical and two upper thoracic vertebrae as well as the prominent skeletal features of the pectoral girdle. Observe the laryngeal cartilages and hyoid bone in the anterior neck and their respective cervical planes;
3) that a horizontal line (Reid's base line) drawn from the inferior margin of the orbit through the center of the external auditory canal and continuing backward to the center of the occipital bone, is frequently used for cranial topography and cephalometric studies.
